McDonalds knows how to make a commercial that sel Essays
McDonald's knows how to make a commercial that sells us more than just food, but smiles as well. In a commercial that shows us workers constantly smiling with friendship all around, the fast food industry never looked so appealing. With the flip of a light switch, the sunrise lights the city- based McDonald's restaurant brightly. The employees are all dressed in a similar uniforms and begin making the food that can be found on any McDonald's menu. The many customers that come to buy the food get the best service possible thanks to the staff reaching out to give a faraway car their order, replacing a fallen ice cream cone, and making orders as fast as they can. McDonald's "Working Together" commercial uses a focus on the smiling faces of the actors, friendship through the visualization of helpful/playfulness, and a light switch sunrise to a night's lights out to appeal to the pathos of older teens seeking a fun job to older adults who value that old American way of service with a smile at any hour.

When to Use the Latin Abbreviations i.e. and e.g.
When to Use the Latin Abbreviations i.e. and e.g. The Latin abbreviations i.e. and e.g. are often confused. When used incorrectly, they achieve the exact opposite of the writers intention, which is to appear learned by using a Latin phrase in place of an English one that means more or less the same thing. Knowing the meanings of e.g. and i.e.- and how to use them correctly- will save you from making foolish errors and make your writing more sophisticated. What Does E.g. Mean? E.g. is short for the Latin exempli gratia, meaning for the sake of example or for example. E.g. is used in places where you might write including, followed by a list of one or more examples. However, e.g. should not be used to introduce an exhaustive list. At the places where I work best, e.g., Starbucks, I have none of the distractions I have at home. [There are lots of coffee shops I like, but Starbucks is an example thats known to most people.] Some of the things he likes to do in his spare time, e.g., racing cars, are dangerous. [Racing cars is dangerous, but it is not this mans only dangerous hobby.] The abbreviation e.g. can be used with more than one example. However, avoid piling on multiple examples and adding etc. at the end. I like coffee shops, e.g., Starbucks and Seattles Best, for getting work done. [Do not write coffee shops, e.g., Starbucks and Seattles Best, etc.] The children of Leda, e.g., Castor and Pollux, were born in pairs. [Leda gave birth to multiple pairs of children, so Castor and Pollux are one example, as would be Helen and Clytemnestra. If Leda had only given birth to one pair of children, e.g. would be used incorrectly here.] What Does I.e. Mean? I.e. is short for the Latin id est, which means that is to say. I.e. takes the place of the English phrases in other words or that is. As opposed to e.g., i.e. is used to specify, describe, or explain something that has already been referred to in the sentence. Im going to the place where I work best, i.e., the coffee shop. [There is only one place that I am claiming is best for my work. By using i.e.,Ã I am telling you that I am about to specify it.] The most beautiful human in Greek mythology, i.e., Ledas daughter Helen, may have had a unibrow, according to a 2009 book. [Helen, whose beauty launched the Trojan War, is considered the most beautiful woman in Greek mythology. There is no other contender, so we must use i.e.] He wants to take some time off and go to the most relaxing place in the world, i.e., Hawaii. [The man does not want to visit just any relaxing place. He wants to visit the most relaxing place in the world, of which there can only be one.] When to Use E.g. and I.e. While they are both Latin phrases, e.g. and i.e. have very different meanings, and you dont want to confuse them. E.g., meaning for example, is used to introduce one or more possibilities or examples. I.e., meaning that is to say, is used to specify or explain by giving more detailed information. A way to remember the difference is that e.g. opens the door to more possibilities, while i.e. reduces the possibilities to one. I want to do something fun tonight, e.g., go for a walk, watch a movie, play a board game, read a book.I want to do something fun tonight, i.e., watch that movie Ive been waiting to see. In the first sentence, something fun could be any number of activities, so e.g. is used to introduce a few of them. In the second sentence, something fun is one specific activity- watching that movie Ive been waiting to see- so i.e. is used to specify that. Formatting The abbreviations i.e. and e.g. are common enough that they do not require italicization (though the full Latin phrases, if they are written out, should be italicized). Both abbreviations take periods and are followed by a comma in American English. European sources may not use the periods or the comma. It is rare to see i.e. or e.g. at the start of a sentence. If you choose to use one of them there, you must also capitalize the initial letter of the abbreviation. Grammarians will argue over this kind of minutiae all day, so deploy these abbreviations at the head of a sentence only if you must.

Analysis of data from the practical class (guinea-pig ileum Lab Report
Analysis of data from the practical class (guinea-pig ileum experiments) - Lab Report Example Fill in the table (see next page) for all 4 types of agonist/antagonist combination used. Using appropriate statistical tests on the class data, examine whether in each case the presence of the antagonist increased the log EC50 value of the agonist significantly (in other words, made it less negative)*. (ii) With reference to the class practical results in the table (page XX), describe in detail what the experimental evidence is for your answers to question 3(i). This justification of your conclusions is a very important part of this practical write-up. X- Due to the introduction of the drug x, there was contraction response on acetycholine as seen by the less negative values after the introduction of the drug. He drug acts on cholinergic nicotinic receptors, where acetycholine derives it actions. Y-As a result of the introduction of the drugs, the histamine action was strongly altered as seen by less negative values than in the absence of the drugs. In which case, it can be concluded that they are H2 antagonists because they are the ones that inhibit the action of histamine at H2 receptors. Through the action of H2 receptors, histamine is able to secrete gastric juice. 4. The experimental protocol for this practical involved determining two log concentration ââ¬â response curves, the first one in the absence of the unknown antagonist and the second one in its presence. Could this experimental protocol lead to any error and, if so, and how might it be avoided (e.g. by modifying the protocol)? Paradoxical potentiating effects: Very low concentrations of aacetycholine sometimes produce a potentiation instead of antagonism and this would interfere with the measurements. More attention should be given when measuring the concentration to ensure that it is

The Best Thing in Life is Free
The Best Thing in Life is Free Essay No one can deny that the Internet is the most helpful invention in the past centuries. Thanks to the Internet, peopleââ¬â¢s lives have never been more convenient, easy and worth living. But some people want to limit what the Internet can show us. In my opinion, an open, free Internet is better than a more regulated one because it gives us more freedom, free and huge source of study materials and big entertainment choices unlike the one people want to limit. An open Internet gives us not only the freedom of being whoever we want to be, but also the freedom to express ourselves without limitations. For example, social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Myspace offer people the chance to freely express their opinions without being judged. Unlike the regulated Internet, people have to watch out for what theyââ¬â¢re saying about political ideas or about some other people. Moreover, another option the free Internet gives people who want to show their emotions and thinking is blogging. ââ¬Å"Blogs can give readers a clearer idea of what is happening than official newspaper or TV channels can, even in countries where the media are free.â⬠(How Blogging Changed My Life, Ayesha Saldahna, p52). Blogs helped people socialize with the new places or new people. Also, ââ¬Å"I enjoy blogging because it gives me opportunities to exchange ideas with people all around the world.â⬠(How Blogging Changed My Life, Ayesha Saldahna, p53). Clearly, the free Internet has offered people the freedom to be themselves and express their feelings in any way they want without any limitations like the regulated Internet. Another helpful thing a free and open Internet offers us is a huge source of study materials. Instead of buying expensive books and waiting in lines at the library, we now can look up the information we need anywhere anytime through the Internet. For example, I have to do a research papers for my finals. But instead of wasting my time going everywhere to find the information I want, I just need to turn on my laptop and search for any information related to my topic. Unlike the regulated Internet, the free and open Internet offers a huge source of information. So all that is left to do is choose which information is the best for my paper. Moreover, with the money I can save from not buying books, I can help myself with other school supplies. Therefore, free Internet is very helpful, time-efficient and of course, generally free. Lastly, with the invention of the Internet, people can enjoy any kind of entertainment at home. Before the Internet was invented, the only way people could entertain themselves was going out for activities or paying a lot of money on movie tickets, the zoo and concert tickets. Moreover, the long lines and sold-old tickets somehow limited the number of people who can actually get entertained. But since the Internet was born, we can watch movies, football and basketball games and the concerts at home. As time goes by, more and more Internet related home theater devices appeared and gave people more choices to enjoy their lives in the easiest and most convenient way. In conclusion, we can have a better life thanks to the Internet. But some people wanted to limit the features of the free Internet because they think itââ¬â¢s too dangerous. I disagree and I think an open and free Internet is better than a more regulated one. It has been helping us a lot and I want our future generations still can be able to use it in a freely way.

Mark Twain a Racist? Absolutely not! Essays -- Literary Analysis
Celebrating its 135th anniversary this year, Mark Twainââ¬â¢s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a classic of American literature and is read by millions across the nation every year. However, many claim that the book promotes and endorses the heinous act of racism. In their attacks on the classic, many of the bookââ¬â¢s critics employ evidence such as the use of the n-word 211 times (Powers, 2010) and the novelââ¬â¢s repeated inferior depiction of African-Americans. Many supporters of the novel, though, hail it for being so controversial. They claim that the dialogue started when discussing the book is a great chance for students to broaden their views on many controversial topics. As Harris puts it (2000), "If it isn't a dangerous book, there really is no reason for anybody to read it or teach it". Mark Twainââ¬â¢s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn unquestionably does not promote racism, and actually serves to question the very idea of racism itself, as shown by T wainââ¬â¢s use of realism, the use of a child narrator, and the authorââ¬â¢s deliberate intention to criticize the act of slavery and racism. Throughout Huck Finn, Mark Twain employs realism to accurately portray life along the antebellum Mississippi River. Merriam-Webster defines realism as ââ¬Å"the theory or practice of fidelity in art and literature to nature or to real life and to accurate representation without idealization.â⬠Throughout the novel, Twain uses realism to show readers how life was and how blacks were treated. Many critics of the book criticize the language used in the book. As Powers puts it (2010), ââ¬Å"The controversy exploded in 1957, when the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People condemned its 211 uses of the n-word, the infamous epithet for African ... ...-old boy show them the true path of equality and fairness. Twainââ¬â¢s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn clearly does not promote racism, and actually defames it, and the universal lessons taught in the book can still be applied today.
